Meet Shellie ….
Jo: For those of you who got married in 2013, you will have met Shellie as she has joined me for most of the 2013 wedding season second shooting, generally helping, carrying bags and keeping me in check! Her support has been invaluable and the images that she has taken has provided couples with a different perspective throughout the day. Whilst Shellie has been incorporating the Summer Love approach, brand and ethos she has gradually been developing her own style, whilst similar to my own is still distinctive to her.
Lots of photographers have the luxury of partners or family members helping behind the scenes in order to keep up with elements such as admin, album design, editing and even coming along as second shooters. However my husband, in his honesty, tells me that he would rather put hot pins in his eyes than get into photography! This means for the last 4 wedding seasons it has been a completely one man band with myself doing everything from responding to your initial enquiries, meeting you, the photography, the editing, the design and packing, marketing and in essence living, breathing and eating the business. I work 7 days a week, for this last year approximately 80 or 90 hours a week and my family tend to only see the back of my head. Its time … I have forgotten how to live, how to switch off, how to let go and have even forgot to book time off and holidays! … and then this summer, Shellie joined me and this little idea began to creep into mind could I let some of it go?
It was the emails and feedback that I got from clients thanking both of us, telling me the little kind things Shellie had done, the little things I noticed, how she learnt and grew with each wedding and just how, well, she kind of got me and Summer Love Photography. After much talking and deliberating and thinking, the decision has been made – Shellie has now joined me. We are taking it slow over the winter with training days, gradually building up the work all in preparation for 2014. Its going to be a great year (plus I WILL have a holiday next year!)
Shellie is now available to be booked directly through Summer Love Photography for Newborn, Family, Christenings and Weddings. I am really proud to share with you a small selection of her work over this last year …
Shellie: “I am a very proud mummy to two gorgeous children and work part time as a Teaching Assistant, living in a small market town in the heart of the countryside. When I’m not working you can find me cooking with the children, taking the dogs for a walk, enjoying the outdoors and generally being with my family. It is through these activities and wanting to capture the irreplaceable moments of my children’s life, where my love of photography grew from.
More recently I discovered this as a passion and took it seriously by undertaking training and working alongside Jo from Summer Love Photography. I have had the pleasure of being Summer Love Photography’s Second shooter for most of the 2013 wedding season and with this experience am now able to approach photographing people, moments and stories with my own unique style at the same time as having the Summer Love Influence.
Looking forward to meeting you and capturing your story but in the meantime – things I LOVE: Autumn, cold evenings curled up on the sofa, the smell of a Yankee Candle, home cooked dinners, bringing memories of my childhood to the present day with my family, the countryside and big family get togethers around the table.
