A Sunny Beach Wedding
Greeted with white sand, a blue ocean, pelicans, palm tree’s – the magic that is St Pete Beach in Florida. What a setting for a destination wedding! When asked if I would travel to Florida to capture the wedding of Katie and Charles, I have to be honest I literally danced round the living room! Capturing a wedding where there is sunshine, blue skies, the ocean and at the same time intimate – I was over the moon.
I met up with Katie and Charles the day before the wedding to go to their wedding rehearsal, take a look around and most importantly capture some family pictures of them all before the day itself. With such young children you never know how they will be on the day with so much going on and so much excitement so this ensured there would be some family pictures of them all together. Plus it was the perfect opportunity to use the beautiful sunset!
On the day itself, I arrived with the girls in the glamour room, in what can only be described as a glamour room – mirrors on the ceiling, big ornate mirrors, glitter and plush sofas – it was perfect for getting ready and suited the girls down to the ground with their stunning dresses and just enough gold shimmer. The day was gifted with sunshine, warmth and a little breeze, which made the sea blue and the sand white, giving it the destination vibe that everybody wanted. There didn’t appear to be any nerves, just pure joy, excitement and a happiness that came from the tummy – you know the sort – where you cant stop yourself smiling! Everything was perfect, the ceremony on the beach, with Charles and Katie’s nearest and dearest and of course a few onlookers for good measure.
After the ceremony, time was tight so we moved swiftly in to capturing those important family pictures and making good use of the beach and location for their couple portraits so that we could head inside to the reception room (with a view to die for) for mingling, laughter, catching up and fun. The sun set at the time of the speeches and watching the light change in the room from brightness to a soft orange glow added to the magical atmosphere of the day, bringing it all together. The evening reception, with an intimate wedding you sometimes wonder whether the dance floor would get full but in this case, all inhibitions were lost, everybody danced, drank and most importantly let themselves go. it made for the best experience and the type of dance floor I love to photograph. I get in the middle of it all and leave with a couple of extra bruises!
What an absolute joy to photograph, your family and friends were so welcoming and I can honestly say, you all made the day so much fun.
